2000 CHRYSLER BLUE
.
2000 Model year (but first reg in the UK 02/2001) Vehicle supplied new to first owner in 2001 by American Carriage Compnay, Fulham. They serviced the vehicle...>
religously for its the Lawyer owner. I bought it last year for my father who spends half the year in Italy and has always fancied one. Having tried the car, it`s not got quite enough space for all his gear so he`s decided to use one of his other cars, an estate, hence the car is now surplus to requirements. I`d keep it but have to many other cars already and live in London so not really anywhere suitable to keep them. Its a JXi model which was top of the range, with premium sound system, leather, tiptronic gearbox, air con & so on. Its fitted with the Mitsubishi Shogun V6 which is in bullet proof and good for another 100k miles at least. Its a full four seater with a decent boot. Only faults, passenger door lock button needs refitting (but door still works fine) and a couple of the wheels could do with a refurb. All the tyres are good bar one but will replace this prior to sale. Its a 11 year old car so bodywork is OK but not perfect, roof works fine as does air con, blows ice cold. Usual ebay rules, paypal deposit of £500 at auction end, low feedback bidders email me a landline first, I will ship the car but you pay all funds over before I move to shipping agents. Vehicle sold as seen. X

It was based on the Chrysler JA platform Cab forward (car). The Stratus, Breeze, and Cirrus were all on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1996 and 1997. It received critical acclaim at launch, but ratings fell over time. Production ended at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in early 2006 which had built 1,308,123 Stratus and Sebrings since 2000.[1] The Dodge Avenger replaced the Stratus nameplate in early 2007 for the 2008 model year. In 1998 the 2.4 L was standard and the 2.5 L V6 was optional on the ES, and from 1999–2000, the 2.5 L V6 was the only engine on the ES model. The Stratus directly replaced the high-volume Dodge Spirit to favorable reviews, but lower sales. It was often compared to other small mid-sizes such as the Chevrolet Malibu, and judged roomier than the Ford Contour by many magazines such as Consumer Reports. While the extended Ks had previously been Chrysler's main midsize offerings, the larger LH and LX platforms, conceived as replacements for the Dodge Dynasty and Dodge Monaco, would more directly compete with the Ford Taurus, the upsized Honda Accord and Chevrolet Lumina. The cars had many parts that were interchangeable between each model. The exteriors of these three cars were very similar, with the front fascia, rear bumper, taillights, and wheels being the main differences. The interiors had little variation between the three models, being almost identical, save for the name on the steering wheel, and a few available options. All three variants of the platform were available with most of the same standard features and available options, such as the following: a four-speed automatic transmission and an optional semi-automatic dubbed "Autostick" (not available on the Plymouth Breeze), anti-lock brakes, four wheel independent double wishbone suspension, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power driver's seat, leather seats, power antenna, a six CD changer, sunroof, remote keyless entry, anti-theft system, etc. A five-speed manual was available with the 2.0 L and 2.4 L engines. A turbocharged version of the Stratus was sold in Mexico, with the 2.4 L DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick. This car had 168 hp (125 kW) at 5200 rpm and 216 lb·ft (293 N·m) of torque at 2200 rpm. The Stratus was sold in Europe, with the 2.0 L and the V6, as the Chrysler Stratus (the Dodge name was not used in Europe, except for commercial vehicles). Its styling was similar to that of Chrysler's Cirrus (which featured chrome accent moldings along the doors and bumpers), with the exception of the rear taillights, which were the same as Dodge's Stratus, and a Dodge grille, which differed from that of the Chrysler Cirrus and Plymouth Breeze. In 2000, the Stratus was available for its last year of sales in Canada, with the Chrysler Sebring taking over as the company's only lower mid-size sedan - Dodge did not sell the equivalent version in Canada. For Brazil, the Stratus was marketed as a Chrysler, the equivalent Chrysler Cirrus being unavailable. It had the same engines as the North American version but a higher ground clearance for the road conditions there. In Argentina, was marketed as Chrysler Stratus, and it was used to compete in the category Top Race. One of its drivers was the 2004 champion Ernesto Bessone. After Dodge discontinued its coupe, the Avenger (which was built on the recently discontinued second generation Mitsubishi Eclipse platform), they decided to rename their new coupe, to be built on the third generation Eclipse platform, the Stratus. This gave the nameplate both a two and a four-door model, though they shared nothing alike other than the name and a few exterior styling cues to help market them together as one vehicle. The Chrysler version of the new coupe also took the name Sebring despite also being a completely different vehicle from the Sebring sedan. The Dodge Stratus stopped being sold in Canada for 2001. The Stratus and Sebring sedans for the second generation used a revised version of the Chrysler JA platform named JR. The coupe models with the same names were entirely different cars; they were actually based on the Mitsubishi Eclipse. During this time, sales declined as its ratings from consumer and auto magazines fell below average among mid-size cars[2], while the sedan market had shifted and pushed the larger Intrepid and later Charger to record sales. 2004 brought styling revisions, which did not reverse this trend. The coupe was dropped from the lineup after 2005, and the Stratus was discontinued in May 2006[1] (the Sebring name was continued). In Mexico, the Stratus R/T came in a turbocharged version. The Stratus R/T's turbocharged 2.4 L engine went through some improvements in 2001, when power was increased to 215 hp (160 kW). This improved engine would later be used in the U.S. in the Dodge SRT-4 and PT Cruiser GT. Stratus R/T engines built from March 2004 and later generated 225 hp (168 kW) at 5200 rpm and 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) of torque at 4200 rpm. Stratus R/T models with the turbocharged engine could be recognized by a rear badge saying "Turbo". Although still offered in 2006, the Stratus was generally not shown among other Dodge cars in auto shows.[citation needed] [edit] Trim levels Sedan: 2001-2006 ES - 2001-2004 SE - 2001-2004 SXT - 2002-2006 R/T - 2002-2006 Coupe: 2001-2005 SE - 2001-2002 SXT - 2002-2005 R/T - 2001-2005 [edit] Licensed production in Russia The second generation Dodge Stratus, along with the Chrysler Sebring, will be built for GAZ in Russia from late 2007 or early 2008 on, and will be sold under the brand "Siber". The license and production facilities for these cars were sold in April 2006 to Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska, who owns the GAZ company in Nizhny Novgorod, which builds the Volga automobile. The price was approximately US$151 million (€ 124 million). The new production facilities are planned to build up to 65,000 cars of both models yearly. Four-cylinder engines will be purchased from Chrysler and made in Mexico. [edit] References ^ a b "Stratus and Sebring gone for good". Autoblog. Based on the new midsize JA platform, the Cirrus was sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil for the 1995-2000 model years; but DaimlerChrysler (now Chrysler) sold the Cirrus in Mexico until the 2010 model year. Development of the Cirrus started in 1991, with the goal to create a car that was expressive looking and fun to drive, yet safe enough to transport an everyday family[2]. The original concept featured rear suicide doors and a 400 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter two stroke engine[2]. Both the concept and eventual production model used the Chrysler Corporation's new cab-forward design, which was launched on the larger LH sedans in 1993. Cab-forward design was characterized by the long, dramatically slanted windshield, and short overhangs. The wheels were pushed further to the corners of the vehicle, which created a much larger passenger cabin than most other similarly sized vehicles of that time. The Cirrus was designed with flowing lines with no distinct beginning or end. This was done to eliminate the common three-box design, which was characterized by distinct breaks between the engine, passenger, and trunk compartments[3]. [edit] 1995–2000 The production Chrysler Cirrus was introduced alongside the similar Dodge Stratus for the 1995 model year. A third JA variant, the Plymouth Breeze arrived the following year. The JA sedans were known collectively as the "Cloud Cars" because their names which referenced meteorological terms (cirrus, breeze, stratus). The Cirrus was originally available in two trim levels: the well-equipped base LX and the luxury LXi. Both models featured sporty, black twin-post side mirrors, fog lights, the same body-side moldings, chrome bumper accents, and a low extending waterfall grille that was either chrome or body colored depending on color of the vehicle. The Cirrus was one of the first Chryslers to feature the rose medallion logo, which had not been used in 41 years[4]. [edit] Trim levels 1999–2000 Chrysler Cirrus LXi From 1995 to 1997, the Cirrus was offered in two trim levels: the entry-level LX and the luxury LXi. The LX model was dropped for the 1998 model year, but returned in 2000 to compensate for the Plymouth Breeze which was discontinued early in the 2000 model year. LX • 1995–1997; 2000 LXi • 1995–2000 [edit] Engines 2.4 L I4 2.5 L V6 [edit] Model year changes 1995: The all-new Chrysler Cirrus sedan is launched in the United States and Canada. 1996: This year, a new DOHC 4-cylinder engine was available for 1996. The Chrysler-built 2.4 L 4-cylinder which produced 150 hp (112 kW) was standard in the LX, and was only available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as with the V6-powered Cirrus. The V6 was optional on LX models. Rear headrests were added this year. 1997: The 4-cylinder engine was made standard in both models, with the V6 as an option. The interior gained a new center console with a storage compartment and integrated armrest. 1998: The 4-cylinder engine and the LX trim level were eliminated, leaving only V6 LXi models. 1999: For its fifth model year, the Cirrus received a redesigned open grille with Chrysler's new winged grille badge. Chrysler's Sentry Key system was a new option. Sentry Key disabled the ignition unless the proper key was inserted. Standard 15-inch (380 mm) wheel covers could be upgraded to new 15-inch (380 mm) alloy wheels. Cirrus was the only one of the JA "cloud cars" to receive any form of facelift over the course of its production. 2000: For its final model year, the 4-cylinder LX model returned to join the V6-powered LXi sedan. Previously optional rear child seat anchorages, aluminum wheels, and an 8-speaker AM/FM cassette stereo were now listed as standard features. Last year of production; all mid-size Chryslers (redesigned for 2001) would carry the Sebring name beginning in 2001. [edit] Accolades The Cirrus was Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year for 1995 and on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1996 and 1997. [edit] Replacement The replacement for the Cirrus was the 2001 Chrysler Sebring sedan, built on an updated version of the JA platform known as the JR. The base model for new Sebring sedan also served as replacement for the Plymouth Breeze. It is interesting to note that the 2001 Sebring sedan, Chrysler's midsize sedan and coupe/convertible shared the same name. This was also true for the Cirrus' predecessor, the LeBaron, which was sold in a sedan version and a coupe/convertible version. [edit] Cirrus in Mexico The first generation Cirrus was sold in Mexico with a turbocharged version of the 2.4 L DOHC I4 engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick. The Cirrus' engine was rated at 168 hp (125 kW) at 5200 rpm and 216 lb·ft (293 N·m) torque at 2200 rpm. When the Cloud Cars were redesigned, the Cirrus name was dropped in the U.S., (the Chrysler Sebring sedan was its replacement) but in Mexico the name continued (Sebring was already registered for a product name there, and Chrysler's usage would constitute trademark infringement.) Trim levels on the 2001 versions were LX and LXi for the sedan, the convertible was available in one trim level only. All versions were equipped with automatic transmissions. The second generation Mexican Cirrus comes in two versions: a sedan with Chrysler's turbocharged 2.4 L DOHC engine, and a convertible with the Mitsubishi 2.5 L V6. The turbocharged 2.4 L engine received a power upgrade to 215 hp (160 kW) in 2001. In March 2004, power was increased to 225 hp (168 kW) at 5200 rpm and 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) of torque at 4200 rpm. Cirrus models with this engine are identified with a "High Output" badge on the back of the vehicle. In Mexico the current Chrysler Sebring sedan was still sold as the Cirrus until the 2010 model year, when the Chrysler 200 replaces both the Sebring/Cirrus nameplates for the 2011 model year. The third generation Cirrus sedan was released in 2007. There are three engines available: a 2.4 L DOHC I4 engine producing 172 hp (128 kW) at 6000 rpm, a 2.7L V-6 with 189 hp (141 kW) or a 3.5 L V6 engine producing 232 hp (173 kW) at 6400 rpm. It is available in base, Touring, and Limited trims (the same as the 2007 U.S. and Canadian-specification versions). The convertible continues, with same trim levels as the sedan version. Doug is a nerd from way back, falling for a Commodore PET at the age of 15, and never looking back. Riding the nerd wave, he got a Computer Science degree and entered the tech industry at a young age, deciding after a year and a half of front-line phone technical support that he should try something, *anything* else. He settled on technical writing, and has been cranking out documentation for companies like Unisys, SGI, Cisco, Juniper, and many others ever since. The fact that he commutes between his family in Austin and his day job in California is something that he is simply trying to live with. (Isabelle the Corgi helps.)
